I hope you are all well and are having a lovely Christmas! As the time has come and it is officially Christmas Eve, (eeek) I thought I would share with you a festive makeup look using some products that I have been loving recently to give you some inspiration of what you could wear on Christmas Day, New Year or even a Christmas party! I hope you enjoy my lovelies…
I have kept this makeup look quite simple with the classic gold eye and nude lip but if you wanted to add any other products to this look you could also! You are probably wondering why I have multiple lip products in this post but I am personally more of a nude lip person and don’t tend to wear more bolder shades so I have included a few options of lip choice! You could wear whatever shade of lip choice you wanted for this look though as anything would go with a gold eye so you can’t go wrong! I have also tried to make all the products affordable so anyone could recreate this look!
Makeup Products I’m Going To Be Using…
- Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer in the shade ‘Ivory’-£5.49
- Makeup Revolution Eye Primer-£2.50
- The Body Shop Go For Gold Eyeshadow Quad-Now £10.00 Was £15.00
- Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara-£7.99
- Rimmel London Wonder’full Mascara-£7.99
- *Seventeen Brow’s That! Brow Kit-£5.99*
- *Seventeen Instant Glow Bronzing Powder-£4.59*
- The Body Shop Matte Liquid Lipstick in the shade ‘Windsor Rose’-£6.00
- Makeup Revolution Lip Gloss in the shade ‘Too Shy’-£1.00
- Makeup Revolution Lipsticks-£3.00 and under
To start off this look, I popped on my trusty Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer underneath my eyes to brighten them and make them appear more awake. I have been using this concealer for what seems like a very long time now and I never get tired of using it! Although some people say that the lightest shade ‘Ivory’ isn’t light enough, I find that it works fine for me as I’m sadly pale and I find it a struggle to find concealers that match my skin perfectly. Rimmel do four other shades of this concealer so you should be able to find a shade that will match your skin tone.
I then applied a small amount of the Makeup Revolution Eye Primer to my eyelids to prep them for the eyeshadow. I received this in my Makeup Revolution advent calendar so I’m not sure if you can buy the exact same one in store but Makeup Revolution also do other eye primers or one that you have that works best for you will be fine! I must admit, I sometimes miss this step out but it is a key step that does make a difference to the overall look of the eyeshadow and how long it lasts for. If you don’t use an eye primer I would definitely suggest you use anyone that you can get hold of that doesn’t have to be pricey!
Moving onto the eyeshadow, a palette that I have been loving recently is The Body Shop’s Go For Gold Eyeshadow Quad which is perfect for this season with the gold shimmers and matte browns. I still can’t get over how gorgeous this palette is with the sleek black packaging and the big mirror! I had never tried any of The Body Shop’s palettes before but having now tried this palette, I would definitely consider picking up some more shades they do! You can also interchange the shades as the squares pop out to become singular so you can customise the palette to how you want! The shades in this palette are also highly pigmented which is fab! Now for the actual eye look…
- Take the matte ivory shade ‘Sahara Dune‘ and place that all over the lid and up to the brow bone.
- Next take the shimmery gold shade ‘Aztec Gold‘ and place that in the centre of the lid.
- Then take the shimmery brown shade ‘Essaouira Bronze‘ and place that on the outer corner of the lid.
- Also take the matte brown shade ‘Amazonian Earth’ on the outer corner of the lid to add more definition. At this stage you want to take a clean brush and blend the shadows until there is no longer any harsh lines.
- Finally take ‘Sahara Dune‘ in the inner corners of the eyes to brighten them and add a bit of highlight.
Obviously we can’t finish off the eyes without some mascara so I took the Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara on my bottom lashes as mine has sadly nearly ran out so there wasn’t enough for my top lashes so I will definitely be repurchasing it soon! This mascara is great for bottom lashes as it has a curved wand which makes it easier to apply without getting it on your skin which always seems to happen to me! For my top lashes I used this Rimmel London Wonder’full Mascara which I picked up a few days ago and I am absolutely loving! Although I don’t usually like larger wands, I don’t find that this mascara is too difficult to apply which was a bonus. This mascara also contains Argan Oil which is meant to condition your lashes. This also means when you come to take your makeup off at the end of the day, it is so much easier which is definitely something I look for in a mascara!
Moving onto brows I used this Seventeen Brow’s That! Brow Kit which is also a new addition to my makeup draw which I have been loving recently! You all probably know by now that I am all about the brow so having a handy little kit that has everything I need for my brows is amazing! This kit also comes with a large mirror for on the go!
- First I took the tinted wax and brushed this through my brows with the applicator that comes in the kit. This makes the brow powder stick to your brows more and makes sure that your brows don’t move out of place!
- Next I took the brow pencil and lightly outlined my brow shape.
- I then took the brow powder and filled in my natural brow shape and any sparse areas.
- Finally I took the highlighter underneath my brow bone for an extra glow!
To finish off the skin, I took the ‘Seventeen Instant Glow Bronzing Powder’ and placed this where you would usually contour and on my cheek bones. I like the fact this bronzer isn’t too harsh and looks natural. It is also nice and easy to blend and very buildable so you won’t have the risk of applying too much!
Finally the last step to this look is the lips! As I mentioned earlier, I have included two different lip options if you don’t tend to wear bold shades. For the more natural lip I chose The Body Shop’s Matte Liquid Lipstick in the shade ‘Windsor Rose.‘ This is a classic nude shade and in my opinion, you can’t beat a good nude lippy especially a matte one! I have got so much use out of this lipstick since buying it a few weeks ago so I would definitely consider picking up some more shades they do! Did I say they also smell amazing!?
To add some extra sparkle to this look because after all it is Christmas, I took a small amount of this ‘Makeup Revolution Lip Gloss‘ in the shade ‘Too Shy‘ which contains tiny gold specks of glitter and popped this in the centre of my lips to complete the look!
For the other lip option, I also received this Makeup Revolution Lipstick in my advent calendar which unfortunately doesn’t have a shade name but it is a gorgeous berry toned shade which I love! At first I was a bit put off by the colour of this lipstick as it appeared more purple but on the lips it transfers as a lovely berry lip shade perfect for this festive look!
I don’t own that many lipsticks in this shade so receiving it in the calendar was very useful! Overall I would definitely recommend their lipsticks as they are such lovely formulas too for the price! I know I will be wearing this on Christmas Day!
That brings me to the end of this weeks post ‘Festive Makeup Look 2016!‘ Thank you so much for reading as always and I hope you enjoyed this post! I am by no means an expert at makeup but I hope in some way this might have given you some inspiration of what makeup look you could wear this festive season! I hope you all have a fun-filled Christmas and A Happy New Year and I’ll see you next year!
Much Love and Merry Christmas, Amelia xx
