Testing Dermalogica Skincare…

Testing Dermalogica Skincare…

Skincare has always come first for me before makeup and I am conscious to look after my skin (thanks to my mum) but especially as a student, I’d never really looked into what I should be using on my skin, what is best for my skin type etc and had a regimented routine. I’d remove my makeup with a makeup remover, occasionally do a face mask/exfoliating scrub, cleanse then moisturise and that would be me done. Recently however, I was VERY generously gifted some Dermalogica products to try as part of their #skinfluencer programme (which I am still overwhelmed by) and oh my goodness they have changed my whole perspective on skincare. I’ve heard a lot of people say this who are also in the programme but honestly it really is like having a mini facial at home. OBSESSED. You really feel these products are getting down to the nitty gritty not just on the surface of the skin.

The products I’ve been testing are the special cleansing gel, pre cleanse, skin smoothing cream, the skin perfect primer and daily microfoliant.

Pre cleanse – I’d not heard of this before but it simply deep cleanses your skin, melts impurities, makeup (even waterproof) and environmental pollutants that build up on the skin as part of a double cleanse regiment starting with this along side the special cleansing gel. You apply this to dry skin, then add a little warm water to your hands which will create a milky liquid to then wash off with a warm flannel.

Special cleansing gel – This special cleansing gel cleanses all skin conditions which removes impurities without disturbing the skin’s natural moisture balance. As someone with dry skin, a lot of cleansers have gotten rid of the natural oils and stripped my skin leaving it SO dry so this product is genius to me as it works for all skin types. It contains mint and lavender extracts to soothe the skin which is so relaxing especially on an evening. It also foams away toxins and debris and isn’t formulated with artificial fragrances which is ideal for sensitive skin.

Daily microfoliant – This is another product that was interesting to me. It is a rice based exfoliating powder which activates upon contact with water. It brightens the skin, reduces pores and helps balance uneven skin tone. It is gentle enough for daily use which you use by wetting your hands and applying around half a teaspoon which creates a creamy paste.

Skin smoothing cream – My skin gets extra dry in the colder weather so this cream has definitely been a skin saviour so far. It moisturises and balances combination/ dry skin which you use after cleansing on the face and neck, morning and night. This teamed with the primer makes a flawless base.

Skin perfecting primer –  Although you may not think it, SPF is so important within our skincare routine, summer or winter. This primer smoothes fine lines, brightens and primes the skin for flawless makeup application which shields against sun damage. It’s the perfect base for make up and also adds a neutral tint for a more even skin tone. Or you can wear this alone.

Overall I would highly recommend Dermalogica. I’d heard so much hype about their products before, especially from people who suffer with acne such as Georgia Toffolo so to try them myself is a dream!
