My Daytime Summer Makeup Look
When it comes to Summer makeup, this year I am ALL about that glow and keeping it simple. With the current heat wave we’ve been having recently in Britain especially, I’ve been tending to opt for a minimal, lightweight look against the heat (and apparently storms!?) and a whole load of setting spray. In today’s post, I thought I would share what has been my go-to makeup routine lately and a full low down of the products I am using to achieve it…!
Revolution Pro Foundation Drops £7 (shade F1)
Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer £4.19 (shade ‘extra fair’)
Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder £3.99 (shade ‘transparent’)
Makeup Revolution Brow Pomade £6 (shade ‘soft brown’)
Revolution Pro 4K Highlighter Palette £8 (shade ‘rose gold’)
Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid Lipstick £5.99 (shade ‘strapless’)
I’ve been loving SO many products from the drugstore lately hence why every product in this look is drugstore! It is so fab to see drugstore brands thriving, especially the likes of Makeup Revolution and their new brand, Revolution Pro which is quickly becoming one of my favourite, affordable brands which you may have seen in my previous post.
Onto the look…
The Rimmel Insta Fix & Go setting spray can also be used as a primer, so I also like to spritz a bit of this on before I start applying my makeup! I also like to spray this after powder to set the base and of course after my makeup is complete.
Why I love it: I won’t go into too much detail as like I said, I have already done a full review on this product which was featured in this post but here is why it’s been that perfect summer foundation…
I love how the foundation, hence the name is so easy to apply with the drop applicator which you can essentially drop straight onto your skin without having to pour it out from the bottle or pump onto your hand. I found the best way to blend out this foundation is with a damp beauty blender which blends it out beautifullyy. This foundation gives more of a lighter coverage which I much prefer for the Summer, however if you prefer a full coverage, you can also layer it up, so you can go for as little or as much as you like! The formula is super lightweight and gives a matte, but glowy finish to create the perfect base. It’s also only £7 so you can’t go wrong! OBSESSED.
Why I love it: I suppose this isn’t sort of new addition to my makeup routine, unlike the others as it was always a staple in my makeup routine, however when Collection recently released new shades for paler skin tones, it rekindled my love for this concealer as the shade ‘extra fair’ is much better suited to my skin tone than ‘fair’ which was a tad on the orange side and oxidised on me.
I stupidly forgot to photograph the powder didn’t I but just pretend it’s there ok. The Rimmel Stay matte is a classic which I just love that does the job!
Why I love it: To start, the Phase Zero eyeshadows are SO easy to blend and pigmented. I love how you can tailor create the palette to your taste by buying the palette and then choosing the shadows separately off the website! The pans are also a decent size too. Next, I have also been loving using the Extra Spice palette which is another one of Soph’s and Makeup Revolution’s latest collaborations. Everything about the palette is just stunning, the shades are such good quality and soooo pigmented also for the price! The shade range is so different too and there are so many different, bright shades to create multiple looks with.
Why I love it: This mascara is one of Rimmel’s latest releases and I must say, they have done good. I’m not going to lie, I’m not usually a fan of Rimmel mascaras but this one is a winner. It adds volume and length to the lashes and also nicely fans them out at the same time – clumps are not welcome here. I will definitely be repurchasing!!
Why I love it: I’m sure you all know that the Makeup Revolution brow pomade is my holy grail, my ride or die, the chocolate to my maltesers. I just LOVE the stuff. It’s so easy to use on the brows and it lasts really well too, (I’m pretty sure it’s waterproof) so for £6, it’s such a steal.
Why I love it: Highlight is by far my favourite step and makes such a difference to the overall appreacrence. It is a key key key step when it comes to my Summer makeup because I want to be glowinggg huns. This palette, again from Revolution is just BEAUT. The kit includes 4 absolutely blinding shades which are SO pigmented. Makeup Revolution never disappoint when it comes to highlighters and this certainly doesn’t either! There is also another palette like this which includes more golden shades for medium to darker skin tones. LOVEE.
Why I love it: I have been alternating between quite a few different liquid lips recently but this Rimmel one is perfect for everyday. It’s that pinky nude that I’ve been looking for and these ones last on the lips most of the day which is amazing. They don’t dry my lips either and are easy to apply. There are so many shades of these so I’d definitely recommend! They are brill to just pop on and your good to go!
And that’s it!
Have you tried any of the products mentioned? What is your go-to summer makeup look? I’d love to know!
