Self tanning that really is made easy

Self tanning that really is made easy

Well, it has been HATT today hasn’t it. I’m sat writing this with my windows open praying the world of bugs and their wives don’t come on in, plus half my packaging for Centre Parcs is left to do but this blog post comes first hunnies! This continuous sunny weather is actually quite appropriate seen as today I’m sharing the tanning product that has literally changed my world of tanning (thanks to Ellie for the recommendation!) and my current tanning routine.

I’m sure us girlies can relate when I say tanning is one hell of an effort! From shaving, exfoliating, to moisturising and actually going through the stress of applying the tan. I usually end up realising after tanning when I step out into the light, it’s a hot mess. I’m talking patches I’ve missed, streaks, you name it, I’ve been through the disasters. Sooo this brings me onto the holy tan that I’ve been using over the past few weeks which has upped my tanning game and ultimately has made tanning a whole lot easier and quicker! Seen as we’re now in Summer and my legs anyway are beginning to come out of hiding, I thought what better opportunity to share!

I’m guessing you’ve all worked out that the tan I’m on about is the Rimmel Sun Shimmer Self Tan Mousse. That was a mouthful and a half. This retails for just £7.99 however it’s actually on offer at the moment for £5.33  (I know ladies, I know) and we all know I love a bargain so naturally, I jumped at the offer and added it to my basket! Compared to other tans I’ve tried in the past such as the St Tropez gradual tan tinted lotion ( we won’t go there) which retails for £10 this tan is nice and affordable which I love, living my student life you know.

Anyhow, onto the actual tan itself which is what you are all here for, the tan claims that it ‘develops in 1 hour and lasts up to 7 days.’ Promising. It also claims to be a ‘lightweight’ formula which dries within just 2 minutes that is ‘natural looking’ and ‘streak free.’ Sounds perfectt doesn’t it? yes, yes it does. Trust me IT IS.

If you didn’t already know, I’m unfortunately VV pale and don’t tan (instead I fry) so achieving a natural tan is virtually impossible. One of the reasons I love this tan is that it does just that and creates a natural looking tan which is build able and the colour is not orange either, (another past mistake.) Another main attraction for me in this tan is that it really does dry within seconds of applying, not to the point where it dries before you have chance to rub it into the skin but pretty much after it’s dried which is SO so helpful as you can just pop on your clothes right away. For example if you were going out for the night, you can apply this and your good to go as it’s also instant! The colour does develop slightly more in around an hour however. This tan also doesn’t have too much of a fake tan smell which is a plus. I also haven’t experienced any streaks or patches. Hallelujah.

My Self Tan Routine:

1. Exfoliate.

This step is crucial for achieving no patches as sometimes the tan sticks to the dry areas of your skin which is not cute. Make sure you have also shaved all of your bod.

2. Moisturise

I can’t stress enough how important this is! Even if you don’t think your skin is dry, a moisture boost not only helps the tan apply better but it also gives a nice sheen on the skin underneath.

3. Apply the tan (with a mitt!)

I then go ahead and apply the tan using a mitt. You can pick these up from Superdrug, I use Superdrug’s own Solait Mitt for £3.49 which can be washed in the washing machine at 30 degrees. One pump of this tan goes a long way so I like to do one pump per leg, then do my arms, and then the rest of my body. Once the tan has dried, I might go back in with another layer. I got mine in the shade ‘light’ and there are three shades, light, medium and dark in this tan. If your pale like moi, light should be a good match or medium if you want to go darker!

4. Moisturise (again)

Yepp, after applying the tan I then go back over my skin lightly with the moisturiser again which helps the tan to last longer and keeps your skin hydrated!

And that’s it! Overall I’d definitely recommend this tan to anyone and I hope my tips may have helped some of you to get a flawless tan! I hope you have a fabulous week ahead and I’ll catch up with you as soon as I can at Centre Parcs! Muwaaa.

I must try this one, my usual is St Moriz as I find the colour good and it’s so affordable. I use so much tan I tend to pick a cheaper alternative if I find it works for me. I’m going to look at this one next time. What ever did we do before mitts!?
