Over the years, I have tried and tested goodness knows how many different concealers from the drugstore and have tried and tried to find one that was my perfect match for my v pale skin, but I just really found myself settling for the ones I found were the closest matches, those being the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in the shade 10 and you guessed it, Collection Lasting Perfection in the shade ‘Fair’ which oxidises on me (although I know they have recently released some lighter shades!) When Makeup Revolution, which has really upped their game recently which I am totally here for, released The Conceal & Define concealer not so long ago, the beauty community including myself was left shookith.
Not to mention the wide variety of 18 shades Makeup Revolution has released in this concealer which caters for all skin tones from fair to deep, in cool, neutral and warm undertones which I what I like to see (yes Tarte, I’m referring to you hun) it is only £4.00!! Which makes it nice and affordable which is also something I’m always down for. It really is “the concealer for everyone.“
Although I’m sure you will have seen a load of reviews of this concealer floating around, I thought I’d share my thoughts anyway if this would be any use to any of you who are thinking of trying this concealer if you haven’t yet already!
A Bit About The Concealer…
This concealer is lightweight yet full coverage, in order to cover blemishes, even out your skin tone and counteract any dark circles. It is a matte finish that won’t settle or accentuate fine lines and pores. It is also long wearing with ‘intense’ pigment which can also be used as a contour product to add definition to those cheekbones. It has a large doe foot applicator which allows for smooth application that won’t drag on the delicate skin under your eyes.
The product (4.3ml) comes in a small but thick concealer tube with rose gold packaging. You might be thinking like me that it’s very similar to Tarte’s best selling Shape Tape concealer which this concealer has been compared to. The main, or should I say HUGE difference which I touched on earlier is the price with the Tarte Shape Tape coming in at £22, compared to just £4.00 for the Makeup revolution one. Yep, you heard it. (I know which one I’d rather be spending my penny’s on…)
Although unfortunately I don’t have the Tarte Shape Tape to compare it with, I thought I would do a comparison between the two concealers I was previously using, (which I might add are more expensive) to compare if you are also pale like myself. As you can see, the applicators are also SO different on the Maybelline and Collection Concealers compared. I didn’t realise HOW SMALL they were until getting the Makeup Revolution one!
L-R COMPARISON : MAKEUP REVOLUTION CONCEAL & DEFINE (C1) , MAYBELLINE FIT ME CONCEALER (10), COLLECTION LASTING PERFECTION (Fair) .
My First Impressions…
After reading other bloggers reviews on this, I definitely had high expectations, or was at least hopeful that I might have finally found an amazing drugstore concealer that would be my shade. What I was not expecting was to exactly find just that. This stuff really is INSANE. If they suddenly go out of stock, you will know why because I’m already hopping back onto TAM Beauty to get 100 more of these ok. Makeup Revolution, you really have outdone yourselves and have quite frankly for me knocked out the likes of Collection Lasting Perfection out of the park for an even cheaper price. I don’t think I’ve ever recommended you go out and get your hands on a product THIS much.
I applied the concealer on each area at a time as I’d read that it dries down quite fast which it does but I don’t find this a problem. The applicator makes it so smooth to apply like it claims. I blended it out with a damp beauty blender like I always do and it blended out so nicely, quite literally like a dream and most importantly didn’t crease and lasted ALL day without looking cakey, which I was hoping wouldn’t happen with it being high coverage. It doesn’t feel heavy at all on the skin which is a bonus too. Even just by swatching it in store, it literally conceals your life and all your issues away. Say gurl bye to those blemishes and dark circles. LAV IT. So impressed!
If you couldn’t already tell, this concealer has definitely become my holy grail. Makeup Revolution are really killing it lately for a drugstore brand which is so pleasing to see that there are really amazing products available to everyone. You’ve probably all got the gist by now of my thoughts on this so I’m going to shut up now but I still can’t get over the fact that it’s FOUR QUID.
I would love to know if anybody else has tried this concealer and what your thoughts are??
