I hope you are all well and are having a lovely bank holiday weekend! A few days ago it was my birthday (whoop whoop) and this year I thought I would treat myself and placed my very first Colourpop order! I have always loved the look of their products and always wanted to try them out after seeing so many other beauty influencers talking about them so I’m so excited to finally own some of them! I thought I would do a bonus blog post this week and share with you the things I ordered and review them now I have had chance to try everything out and I couldn’t leave them in the box any longer without showing you! I’m also going to be talking about the shipping cost etc. I hope you enjoy my lovelies…
Products I ordered:
- Colourpop ultra satin lip in the shade ‘Alyssa’ -$6.00 or £4.68
- Colourpop ultra satin lip in the shade ‘Echo Park’- £$6.00 or £4.68
- Colourpop ultra satin lip in the shade ‘Aquarius’-£$6.00 or £4.68
- Colourpop ultra satin lip in the shade ‘November’-£$6.00 or £4.68
As you can see I ordered four of their lipsticks in the same ultra satin lip finish. Colourpop do a range of different finishes from matte to glossy lips but I decided to go for their ultra satin lips as although I love a good matte lippy, these are somewhere in between of a matte lipstick and a lipstick so they are still super long wearing but don’t dry fully matte which means they don’t leave your lips feeling like a desert! After having LOVED the formula of these which I will come onto later, in the future I will definitely consider picking up more of the satin lips but also maybe a few matte ones also. As it was my first Colourpop order I only got a few things as I didn’t want to go too overboard encase I didn’t end up liking them (I shouldn’t have worried because I flipping love em!) but I also picked up a few things for my friends and family at the same time which went down well so I’d definitely recommend these if you are looking for a gift for someone at the same time as getting some yourself!
Going back to the formula of these, I wasn’t really sure what to expect but I’m so pleased I went for the satin lips as they are a perfect balance for anyone who likes matte liquid lipsticks but doesn’t want anything that will dry out your lips at the same time. As they don’t dry fully matte I was expecting it to totally come off after I ate or had a drink but I was SO surprised at how long lasting they really are. Although they do leave a stain on your mug when drinking, after I have eaten it is virtually the same and hasn’t come off my lips. This would be really handy if you are going out for the day or out for a meal as you would know that after eating etc you wouldn’t have to worry about looking in your mirror of having to re apply it. Because they are a satin formula they are nice and creamy so one of the things I noticed when I tried them out for the first time was how easy they are to apply. They are also super pigmented so a little goes a long way! You don’t need to apply more than one layer like some liquid lipsticks and I haven’t experienced any of the shades looking streaky or anything like that which is a bonus!
L-R: November, Aquarius, Echo Park, Alyssa
Moving onto the actual shades, I ended up choosing all pinks and nudes which when I first saw them looked pretty similar in the bottle but in the swatches you will be able to see that they are all actually different! After a lot of debating on what shades to choose, I finally chose: Alyssa, Echo Park, Aquarius and November as pinky nudes and nudes are my go to staple lip colour that are so lovely especially in the Spring/Summer season. Out of all the shades, ‘Alyssa‘ and ‘Aquarius‘ are my favourites but they are all oh so pretty!
Alyssa- A muted pink
Echo Park- A warm peachy nude
Aquarius- A soft pinky nude
November- A warm peachy pink
When I placed my order, the total shipping cost came to $9.99 which equivalents to £7.80 which I think is quite reasonable seen as it’s shipping all the way from America to the UK. I also got $5.00 off by using a discount code that gets emailed to you if you sign up to their newsletter found on their website which is definitely worth doing! I think my order took around a week to arrive which was great but unfortunately the British post charged me with £18 ‘handling fees’ which was more than my actual order! Even though this put a downer on the experience as how else are they meant to deliver it without handling it I have no idea but hey ho, I knew that it could happen after hearing other people who live in the UK getting charged and this had nothing to do with Colourpop. I think it depends on the size of your order and how far it has to travel to but that’s something to bear in mind once the order arrives. I can only speak going on my experience though as you may not get charged at all!
Overall, now having tried and tested some Colourpop products I am definitely considering my next order in the future! In my opinion they are definitely worth the price as the actual price for the lipsticks are so affordable if you minus the shipping and they are just simply GORGEOUS from the packaging to the shades and formula! The parcel they came in was also beautifully designed!
Thank you so much for reading as always and I hope you enjoyed having a peek inside my Colourpop order! Let me know if you own any Colourpop products and any that you would recommend to order in the future!?
Much Love, Amelia xx
