Let’s Have A Catch Up…

Hello everyone,

I hope you are all well and have had a lovely Easter! I can’t believe how fast the holidays have flown by! It’s been so nice to just relax for the past two weeks and to not think about work, exams and all those things as much! I haven’t done a more chatty post in a while so I thought I would sit down and have a good old catch up with you all because as you can see, there have been some pretty big changes made to my blog over the past few days! Also, I was so pleased to see that you all seemed to enjoy my previous baking post so I am planning on doing more baking related posts in the future! Anyway, you might want to grab yourself a cuppa and get comfy because this could turn into a bit of a ramble…

To start off, welcome to my new blog! Whoop whoop!! Over the past few weeks I had been thinking recently more about my blog and a few changes I wanted to make to it. I have been blogging a year now and I am so overwhelmed at how my blog has grown from when I first started thanks to all you lovely people! I was looking back at my first blog posts that I made last year and although I was cringing at some of them, I’m also proud to say that we have come a long way since then! I really appreciate all your lovely comments that always brighten up my day and I feel so grateful to have so many kind followers!

Moving on from that, my storage was increasingly getting full to the point where the free WordPress domain won’t be enough and I basically couldn’t make anymore blog posts! I knew that sooner or later I had to make a decision what the best option was to go forward and I spent a LOT of time researching this and researching that and I came to the conclusion that it would work out more expensive if I was to upgrade with WordPress and I wouldn’t get as much for my money as to go self hosted which was something I’d always dreamed of, being able to have total freedom and to customise my blog how I wanted and to not be limited with the design etc.

I had read so many people’s experiences about going self hosted, what the benefits were and all those things which seemed to be all positive. All in all, a few days ago I plucked up the courage to make the move and go self hosted which I was SO excited for but also anxious for at the same time as the thought of loosing something that I have worked on for a year would have been be a pretty big disaster!! If a problem did occur though, I knew that Siteground (the web hosting site I chose to host my blog) has so many great reviews and were more than reliable to put my blog into their capable hands! I just felt like I wanted my blog to not change but to be more professional and to be able to do more things that the free WordPress domain doesn’t offer. Although you can pay to upgrade on WordPress, going self hosted is a once in a lifetime thing that you wouldn’t have to do again whereas you would have to keep on upgrading with WordPress. (Let me know in the comments if you would like me to do a blog post dedicated to my experience on going self hosted and all the details about the process as I’d be more than happy to do one as I know I found reading about it helpful when I was going through the process!)

Anyway, with my ramble out of the way I really hope you like my new blog design as I’m over the flipping moon now it (hopefully) looks more professional compared to what it was before which don’t get me wrong was fine at the time but after a year, I just wanted a fresh look and to up my blogging game!

With that little blog update out of the way, I just want say that I am currently doing mock exams and exams at school which means although I will try my hardest to blog every weekend, I just wanted to let you know that if I don’t think I’m going to have time to do a usual beauty review or a post that would usually take me longer to do down to school work, instead of missing out on that week’s post I will do a more chatty post instead so leave in the comments any topics you want me to talk about! As I said earlier, the holidays have been a chance to forget mostly about work/school and to focus more on my blog which I have really enjoyed doing but as it will be back to normality in a few days time, that also means it will be back to revision and all that jazz!

Thank you so much for reading as always and I hope you enjoyed this post if you have made it to the end! Have a fabulous week my loves!

Much Love, Amelia xx

I love the new look of the blog and congrats on going self-hosted!! I would love to see a blog post of how you went self-hosted and your experience! I’m definitely thinking of going self-hosted soon when I have a bit more time for my blog! Also, love the design of the blog- did you have to pay for the specific layout, or did it come free when you self-hosted as I’m totally jealous due to the limited options of the free plan haha! Xx

Aww thank you so much Tash as always!! I’m so glad you like my new blog design! That’s great, I’m definitely going to be doing a blog post soon dedicated to my experience and all the details about the process! Although it was very daunting at first, I am so glad I made the decision and have been through the process as I can honestly say it was totally worth the money. It is quite an investment but once you have done it, there is no looking back! Yes, I paid for the Siteground Start Up plan for £2.75 per month but you pay it in one total sum for the year instead of having to pay it each month. Once my site was finished being made, I then bought and downloaded a theme from Pipdig which have such gorgeous themes to choose from and their themes are super easy to download yourself! It took me ages to decide which one I wanted haha. You can choose a free wordpress theme from Siteground but I chose to buy one myself as there are so many more designing options. Awh haha yes, it is so lovely to be in total control of the designing of your blog and to make it just how you want. I was shocked at how many different designing options there were! Hope I could help and thanks for reading as always Hun xx
